My Passion is Compassion and Children
Filed Under Thought for the Day | Leave a Comment
I recently was accepted as a Compassion Advocate and I’m thrilled to be able to continue to make a difference in the lives of children. My husband and I sponsor two children: Dayana from Columbia and Denis from Kenya. For just $32 per month, we are able to provide for physical needs, but even more importantly, spiritual needs are addressed and life skills are taught.
I have a life goal of wanting to be debt free so I can help those in need. Unfortunately, that goal is far off (I was recently notified that my college loans will be paid in 2037!) and I realized that if I wait until I can “afford” it, I likely never will. I have since learned that if God brings a need to my attention, I should try to help meet it.
When attending a Michael W. Smith concert a few years ago, we were given the opportunity to support a child. Jerry and I decided we would each pick a child and since I have three sons, naturally, I wanted a little girl. Dayana and I correspond regularly. She is a true treasure and I love receiving her letters. Sometimes I don’t know what to say to her. I usually talk about my family and pets and send pictures. The children love to receive letters from their sponsors. Photos are especially precious. In addition to writing and sharing financially, I am called to pray for the children we support. Likewise, they pray for us daily.
This new venture begins with training, after which I will network to find sponsors for children in need. It’s really not that difficult when you consider all the many ways we can spend our money foolishly. It simply takes commitment and a willing heart to answer the call to share what God has given us.

Filed Under CSS Resources | Comments Off
A recent blog post on CSS Layouts shares a description, pros, cons and advice on fixed, fluid and elastic layouts. A MUST READ for any serious CSS web developer, the article asks the following questions:
- Which Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) layout is best?
- Is one more accessible than the other? More usable?
- What are the drawbacks and how are they dealt with?
- Is one easier to create than the other?
- Is there an evil, inaccessible layout?
The author further says that all layouts have their quirks and their unique pros and cons, and all are suitable if you take steps to ensure usability and accessibility. The article is the author’s view on the rigid fixed, the adaptable fluid, and the expandable elastic layouts.
